Masai Mara was an amazing time and I honestly can’t wait to go back.
I spent my last August holiday there. It was amazing and I learnt to appreciate the wild and appreciate nature, as well as good phone network connection. I was ‘Mteja’ the whole time. Mteja is a Swahili term for “not available on phone”
Yes there was WiFi but it was only in the bar area and the main restaurant and I was out appreciating nature and what it had to offer.
I was at the amazing Mpata Safari Club that is at the heart of Masai Mara. I was there for close to two weeks and my basic days involved me waking up at around 8am , heading for breakfast after an hour and then head to my room and do some reading and relaxing. This would be followed by a safari around the Mara or an activity set up by the hotel, this would vary from Swahili lessons for the foreigners to a tour of the Masai village that was nearby.
Most afternoons were spent in the swimming pool i literally swam for close to 3 hours on end every day i was there and hence my waist v-line can be witness to it. Some days after this swim session i would nap till it was dinner time around 8pm , watch the news and then head back to my room.
It was a good experience i experienced a sense of detox from the urban world and pressures. I got to get in touch with myself and saw very huge hyenas.
It was an overall amazing experience. You can read more on #MyMasaiMaraAdventure. This was just a little #throwbacktuesday vibe i wanted to share with you.
