Denim is absolutely one of my favorite pieces of clothing and when Thrift Social 7 had the Denim edition I was so excited about it because I was so sure that the fashion and style would be absolutely refreshing and out of this world (read Kenya) . Much to my expectation I did not get disappointed. Custom , ripped , dip and dyed, dyed, frayed, clean , all types of denim was available .
When invited to a themed party here are some of the rules that you need to stick to:
- Observe the theme
- Make the theme your own
- Be unique but stay true to the theme.
At least that is what I try to do. For the Thrift Social 7 : Denim Edition I wanted something unique as always, so I had Robert Mandela , a designer am partnering with to make me a custom Roma Designs Africa outfit which turned out pretty good. I wanted a longline shirt with a mandarin collar and matching pants, to make my own canadian tuxedo as written by fellow fashion blogger Ian Mussilli , on his blog HERE.
When invited to a denim themed party there are a lot of looks you can wear. For the guys , one can wear a simple denim shirt, pair it with black khakis and converse sneakers, alternatively you can wear a denim jacket and variants of the jacket, (like those that are hooded, or have leather sleeves)
For the ladies , a huge trend is currently in, the choker. You could incorporate that into your look by wearing a denim choker , wear an oversize jeans shirt or dress, or tie a denim turban .
DENIM THEMED FASHION TIP
Themed parties are a lot of fun and have fun with it, Don’t play it safe. Make it memorable and always reinvent and recreate yourself. Find pieces that fit and are wearable, without being uncomfortable.
