Athleisure is a trend in fashion whereby clothing that is usually designed and designated for workouts and other athletic activities can be worn in other settings, such as during work, casual or social occasions. This was a huge trend in 2016, with brands such as Adidas and Nike taking lead in the field due to obvious reasons. (They are athletic brands, duh! ) Rihanna was also big on the trend with the release of her Fenty sneaker line under Puma.
As per FashionBeans , there a couple of everyday rules that one needs to know before diving into the Athleisure trend. Here a couple that I stick to and that you should consider:
Track Jackets are perfect items when it comes to layering , which my Numero Uno go-to fashion trick, Read More. As in this post I decided to pair up the track jacket with two looks. The complete set of tracksuit , and with skinny jeans and combat boots. First off , this jacket is from the 1990s . It belongs to my dad back when I was a toddler in the 1990s and I honestly think it dates back to the late 1980s because of the design and silhouette. There you go RETRO!
Another important item is the Running Trainer or Sneakers. These are a must have to fulfil the Athleisure look and feel. For this post I went with the classic Nike Airmax 90s which are iconic when it comes to the sneaker world, these were originally grey and white but I went through a Yellow Spray Paint phase hence to explain the status quo.
When accessorizing this look, I kept it minimal and did not over indulge. “It only takes one piece to take your athleisure look from gym to street,” says Los Angeles–based stylist Rob Zangardi. For this post I accessorized with a gold watch which is oh-so-90s and a pair of Brownline shaped reflector sunglasses to keep it interesting.
You can start with a geometric print or stick to black, white, and gray and then move into brighter colors as you get more comfortable with it.” Kimberly Swarth Designer of the Onzie Apparel.
