Square One has just up'd its game as a tourist destination and it is more than a shopping mall, it is a food destination with the recent opening of the Food District.
The Food District is pretty much a foodie’s haven with a wide variety of places to eat and things to try out, but that’s a post for another day.
La Carnita has made a name for itself in Toronto for its food culture and aesthetic. From carefully crafted tacos to their iconic churros, La Carnita is quite the popular joint to visit if you want a valid taco experience. Their menu goes beyond tacos ( obviously) but that is their main dish variety offering 10 types of Tacos at the Square One location.
Due to its popularity I would highly suggest making reservations before going in, especially on a Friday or weekend, apart from the mall being fully packed , there is the convenience of knowing that you will be seated in under 10 minutes and have your food within 30 to 40 minutes.
For portions I would suggest, having a starter, possibly share a bowl of Tortilla chips with guacamole, or single it out with an avocado mango salad. For the main, you should get at least two tacos, I tried the sweet potato taco which was a bit hot, which I washed down with a mojito. For my second and favourite taco, I had the Carne Asada which is a steak taco which was perfect.
The service is great and the staff are super friendly. The portions are good for the price and the general atmosphere makes the experience more pleasant and you totally forget that you are in one of Ontario’s busiest malls.
When you decide to visit La Carnita, let me know your thoughts on the same and what you tried out.
