Nairobi has always been the perfect spot to have a good hang out and enjoy a chilled out Sunday. Most of the events that happen in the capital of Kenya, are held on the weekends, from the fashion extravaganza, Fashion High Tea, to creative hotspot , Thrift Social and now The K1 Flea Market.
The K1 Flea Market, is held every Sunday at the K1 Klubhouse which was quite more popular in the early 2000s and late 1990s. Kaz Lucas, entertainment maven can be said to have revived what was considered as a ‘dead hangout’ spot with the weekly event.
The event attracts loads of the Nairobi crowd including tourists, expats and locals from all walks of life, you might even have the chance to sit next to the famous creatives like Michael Soi and celebrities like Patricia Kihoro. There is a bevy of vendors that sell everything from clothing, art, handmade jewelry , organic jams and chillies, oh and succulent plants in pots. One of the most amazing things about the K1 Flea Market is not only the fact that there is always a new vendor every week , but you can spend time at the K1 Club House and have brunch and sangrias, at amazing prices. Did I mention that they also have live performances too?
I spent my Easter Sunday at the Flea Market and can’t wait to attend a couple more. Let me know when you are going and let’s make it a date! See you then.
